Hong Kong Trip - Day 3

Day 3, we will concentrate on Tsim Sha Tsui and the vicinity. We decided to start the day with a relaxing Yum Cha..... On the recommendation by the Uncle at the hotel, we decided to try the dim sum at a restaurant that is just across the road from our hotel. The restaurant looks quite traditional (reminds Daddy Mummy of Red Star in Singapore). Turns out that the food is really traditional and yummy!! We ordered siew mai, pan-fried carrot cake, mini claypot rice, beancurd skin roll, char siew cheong fun and of course my favourite char siew pau. And I only ate char siew pau.... Daddy and Mummy said I really dunno how to appreciate good food!! And the best part is, the bill is only HK$92!!! That works out to be abt S$17.50 at the current exchange rate.... super value for money!!

Daddy, I am busy eating my favourite char siew pau, no time to comb my hair, dun take my picture lah!!!

Daddy can I order some more food??? more Char siew paus?

After the yummy dim sum breakfast, we went to Yuen Po Street Bird Garden where bird enthusiasts will bring their pets there and there are also a lot of shops there selling birds and other accessories.

I was so happy and excited to see so many different birds!

Fresh grasshoppers on sale there.....to feed the birds...... I was so excited to see live grasshoppers as I have a chinese book that has a song titled 小蚱蜢!!

See so MANY grasshoppers!

After that we walked around in the nearby goldfish street and I was fascinated by all the different types of fishes, tortoises, terrapins and other pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and I even saw hermit crabs!!! There were really A LOT of fishes!!!

After lunch, I fell asleep in the Ergo while Daddy and Mummy did their shopping... but actually they didn't buy anything much, since Daddy just came back from US, and the things there are a lot cheaper.

After I woke up from my afternoon nap, we ventured out to the Avenue of the stars to take photos..... the weather was super hot and sunny....

I kept wanting to put my little hands on all the hand imprints of the famous stars and then complain that they are very hot (so 小姐!). But obviously I have absolutely no idea who Jackie Chan is.. .... maybe they should have a mickey mouse or Barney hand imprint there? :)

I am now very good at selecting things that I want to take photos with.... so here we go.... all my requests hahaha...

Because it was mid-autumn festival 2 days before, they had a lantern display outside the HongKong Cultural Centre. The theme was in-line with the East Asian Games 09 that Hong Kong is going to host in Nov 09, so the lantern featured all the participating countries and sports.

Japan......

South Korea.....

The mascot playing Rugby....

Mongolia.....

Guam.....

As it was still too early for dinner, we went to a very nice looking building called Heritage 1881. It was a refurbished old police station built by the British.... now it is a nice place with all the posh shops and a very nice hotel.

Looks like a favourite spot for couples to take wedding photos .... Daddy secretly took a shot from the back, in case he kenna bashed up by the couple and their friends

I grew in love, taking photos in different poses ...

The sunset !!! And I thought it was a red ball in the sky

Night view of the lantern display .... very different from that seen in the day when all the lights on the lanterns were switched on

Macau...
Mascot playing table tennis....

The beautiful night scenery.....

Symphony of Lights performance

That marks the end of a tiring day at Tsim Sha Tsui..... tomorrow we'll be leaving the city and going over to Lantau Island!

More photos to enjoy ...

Hong Kong Trip - Day 2

Day 2 is actually the 1st day that we have in Hong Kong since we reached so late the previous day due to the flight delay. Today we will explore Hong Kong Island.

Went to a 茶餐厅 near our hotel for breakfast. Its actually a restaurant that is part of a small boutique hotel, so its cleaner and service is better.

As I am allergic to so many things, I only had chicken macaroni soup, while Daddy and Mummy had the traditional porridge and fried noodles.

Our first stop is the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens in Central. Mummy found out on the internet that it is actually free! The instructions in the internet was to take a bus from Central MTR station. But daddy saw on the map at the MTR station that it was a 2omin walk, so he said to try to walk there since its still very early and the weather is nice. BUT the map did not show that we had to go up on very very steep slopes.... so getting me to walk is obviously not possible. In the beginning, Mummy was carrying me on the ergo. But as the slopes got steeper and steeper, Mummy couldn't take it anymore and passed me over to Daddy..... see how steep the slopes were?

When we finally reached there, Daddy and Mummy were really tired out. I was on the other hand extremely energetic as I saw so many animals!

There were quite a lot of different species of primates in the Park ....

Guess what was I trying to imitate ???

Of course, the flamingo standing on one leg !!!

The Green House, featuring various species of plants and flowers

My favourite spot - the playground !!! Although it was small, the place was very clean and well-maintained. Would be a different story altogether in Singapore. That was why Daddy and Mummy allowed me to play in the playground. Actually we were very impressed that the animals were very very well kept and the whole place were very well maintained despite it being free. Of course, it doesn't have the big animals like elephants and tigers like the Singapore Zoo, but the fact that it has such a high standard despite it being FREE is already very impressive!!! Mummy and Daddy actually hope that we can have such high standards of free parks in Singapore.

See how happily I was running about

After the fun, we decided to go up to the Peak since we're already somewhere near the mid-levels. Waited for 5 minutes before the tram came

Once I reached the Peak, I was getting ready to enjoy myself ....

Saw this group of people bringing a total of 6 dogs out .... and I just love dogs, especially when they are so cute and not that big size

Getting ready for my Disneyland exploration 3 days later .... Insisted on taking photos with Mickey and Minnie Mouse when I saw them at The Peak

Scenic view at The Peak

After lunch on the Peak, I fell asleep in the ergo. Then Daddy and Mummy went shopping at Central. We went to Sogo, walked one round and left. Nothing much to buy and it was toooo crowded.
Then went back to Mongkok, Langham place for dinner. Was really a "Drama Queen" that evening. Since I did not finish my afternoon milk, and after all the fun and running about, I was really hungry in the evening. So I was putting on my drama, "screaming" in public for food !!! So once food came, I decided to feed myself and wasted no food at all !!! So the trick to get me to feed myself is to starve me a little .... ha ha

After dinner we went to Women's Street ....

Daddy bought me a dress there .... the stall owner asked for HK$120 but Daddy said he was willing to pay only HK$90 and wanted to leave. In the end, the stall owner quite readily sold the dress at HK$90. Daddy regretted .... should have asked for HK$60 and then bargained upwards .... sigh

Then we walked back to the hotel from there..... super tired already

More photos to enjoy ....

Hong Kong Trip - Day 1

I woke up really early on Saturday because I knew I was going to Hong Kong !!!! Our flight out of Changi Airport was scheduled to leave at 130 pm via SQ. So 爷爷, 奶奶 and 姑姑 drove us to the airport early to have early lunch before I board the plane.

At the airport, I was just so happy that I was running around 姑姑

Must take a photo with 爷爷 before I fly off .... 奶奶 refused to take photo cos she said her hair was too messy .... ha ha.

Daddy and Mummy decided to go to the airport lounge to take a rest and munch some finger food .....

So I also get to munch some corn flakes and drink soy milk .... all by myself !!! Holiday mood, of cos I can eat by myself lar !!!

When it was about time to board the plane, the announcement came that the plane had some mechanical issues and could not be fixed. So SQ got to make arrangement for another plane to fly to HK at 3 pm !!!! So that means we can only reach HK hotel at 730 pm !!!! So Daddy and Mummy made me take my afternoon nap at the waiting lounge.

First thing that I did after my nap was to drink my milk on the aircraft before it took off .... wonder why the milk tasted so nice ... maybe using air plane water to make milk made the difference

I kept switching TV channels because I got scared during certain cartoon scenes .... imagine, scared of watching cartoons !!!! Daddy and Mummy gave up on me .... wondered why I am so timid

Upon reaching HK airport, we took a cab to the hotel, CHI 279 Residences. It is more of a service apartment than a hotel. Reason why Mummy took a service apartment is that Daddy and Mummy can watch TV in the living room while they made me sleep early in the bedroom ... ha ha. HK drama serials, sure must watch. At least the service apartment has sufficient space to move the luggage around (compared to few years back when Daddy and Mummy went HK hotel, the room was so small that there was hardly space to move around)

The living room ...

Mummy boiling water in the kitchenette

The bathroom .... HK has really high standard of cleanliness !!!

The bedroom .... Daddy slept on the long sofa at night.

Since it was quite late by the time we checked into the service apartment, we went somewhere nearby for dinner. And Day 1 ended without any excitement, except for the airplane change.

Looking forward to Day 2 ....

Mid Autumn Festival Dance Preview

Mid Autumn Festival is round the corner and I have been practising hard for the performance on Thursday (unfortunately my school did not invite parents to come and see). So Daddy and Mummy wanted me to give them a sneak preview of the performance .....

So how did I fare ??? Notice how my extra large Barney singlet turned into a 'dress' for me at home ...

After that, I improvised my dance with a gadget ....

Will see if Daddy and Mummy managed to get a video of my actual performance in school tomorrow. Will be bringing my Xiao Ding Tang lantern to school for the celebration

Happy Mid Autumn Festival to all ... and enjoy all the different types of mooncakes ..... I had my first taste of the little piggy mooncake ... yummy !!!!
