Desaru Trip - Day 1 (Fruit Farm)

Over the weekend, we drove to Desaru for a short getaway. Initially, we wanted to go there on Childre's Day (7 Oct) since the school would be closed and Daddy / Mummy had to take leave to take care of me. However, Mummy realized that the hotel over there is so cheap during the weekend, so we decided to bring forward our trip. Unfortunately, Joel and family could not join us.

So on Sat morning, I woke up at 730 am, and prepared for the trip. We hit the road at about 830 am. Was stuck at the Woodlands and Malaysian checkpoint for about 30 mins or so, and then we were in Malaysia. Daddy borrowed a GPS from his colleague, but because the new Desaru expressway is newly built, it was not detected on the GPS. So we followed the signboards, and it was quite easy to get onto the expressway.

It was just a straight road and along the way, we did not see many cars at all ... quite a scenic view as we drove on. We decided to explore the famous Desaru Fruit Farm first before we check in. Reached there about 10+ am or so.

We signed up for the fruit farm tour (adult 20 RM, child 15 RM). While waiting for the tour to be conducted, we explore around the area. Then I started to pinch my nose ....

Because the uncle was opening durians !!! Drama right ?? Ha ha

Then the tour started. We went into the fruit farm, and saw quite a variety of fruits and trees. The tour guide was explaining to us .... see the look-alike catcus tree

But was actually a dragonfruit tree

Jackfruit hanging up in the sky.

And my 克星 - the durian tree

Mini bananas .... cannot be eaten. According to the tour guide, this is planted only for esthetic purposes

Only this type of bananas can be eaten. And this tree is unique because it can bear twins !!! Usually there is only one comb of banana, not two

The banana flower. The tour guide was saying most of the flowers should droop down, but this one had taken Tongkat Ali and stood up. Haha

Guess what is on top ???

Closed up view ... passion fruits !!! But Malaysian species are sour, rather than sweet

Huge sunflowers !!!

We took a rest after quite a walk .... took some pictures

And then I saw a cat !!! Just so coincidentally, I was also wearing a blouse with a cat on it

This kind auntie gave me a bit of the fish food so that I can feed the fishes

And we saw water apples !!! And when the tour guide gave us some of the leaves to smell, the leaves also smell of the fruit itself !!! Same for guave leaves .... really strong smell, just like the fruits !!! We also saw laksa and curry shrubs

And my favourite part ... the mini zoo in the fruit farm. Get to feed the rabbits !!!

They even had a monkey kept in the farm !!! But we were not allowed to feed it

Saw a bunch of ducks walking around ... led by the Mummy duck

Why are you taking my photo ???

After the fruit farm tour, we went to attend the sales speech on how they rear bees to get honey ....

And then since it was close to lunch time, we decided to stay for the buffet lunch. And the reason why we really stayed was due to the fruit buffet. We wanted to try out as many kind of fruits they had in the farm. Adult cost 25 RM, while child is 23 RM.

As it turned out, the main buffet spread was not tat nice (just like those catering type of food), but the fruits variety was good, and the quality was great ... so we had fruits to keep us really full. There was also fried durian (just like fried banana). Daddy loved that, because it tasted really unique. But next time, would not stay for the buffet lunch since not that worth it.
