Hong Kong Trip - Day 4

We woke up early and checked out of our hotel and took the MTR to Tung Chung (Lantau Island). Left our luggage with Novotel Citigate and decided to explore Lantau Island.

On one end of the Citigate Outlet Mall, we actually found this! Looks familiar ???? They actually have this franchise over in Hong Kong .... selling all the familiar Singaporean food such as laksa, chicken rice, ba chor mee, etc by "famous stalls" from Singapore. Don't play play hor... each plate of Sergeant Chicken Rice (not set meal hor) costs almost S$8 !!!! Daddy and Mummy decided that they don't miss Singapore food so decided not to walk in. Besides, it was so early in the morning.....

Then we took a bus from the interchange to Tai-O. The journey took about 40-45 mins and the bus went uphill, then downhill, then uphill again .... the slope was really steep, as steep as 1:10 ratio. And there were caution signs for only first gear to be used .... luckily, the bus was air conditioned and so not that bad. I felt asleep during the ride and when I woke up, I was already in Tai-O.

Fishing boats and houses along the sea .....

Tai-O is famous for their really fresh seafood and dried products. Dried cuttlefish, dried salted fish, dried oysters etc .... In fact, Daddy bought some back to Singapore, because they smelt really nice (not pungent at all), especially good ingredients for Cantonese soups !!!

Tai-O is pretty much self sufficient. Almost all the essentials are available.

A place to say prayers to the Gods and send blessings to family members and friends

A primary school .... and during recess time, there were quite a good number of students having fun

Post office .... looks pretty modern inside

Fire station ... if it were to depend on other stations outside Tai-O, the place would have been burnt down by the time help arrived .... imagine taking 40-45 mins up and down the mountain roads to get to the fire ....

Substation to provide electricity ... 2nd storey provides accommodation for those who work in the substation ... why do they need so regular maintenance at the Substation ???

Clinic sponsored by the jockey club. Did not go in to look, in case my immune system kenna attack by germs over there

And a place called Shaolin for those who like to learn Wushu. In fact, they do send representatives to take part in competitions, so looks like this is serious stuff

Once again, I requested to take pictures with all the statues there.... hehehe....

For lunch, we went to this family owned restaurant for a 3-course seafood meal for less than S$40 .... The prawns were really fresh and quite a lot for just Daddy and Mummy. I do not like prawns although I'm not allergic to them.

Next came the green vegetables. Not much seasoning was used because we could taste the freshness of the vegetables .... just like the kind that was just taken directly from the farms

Next came my favourite steamed fish !!! Again, just little seasoning so as not to mask the taste of freshness. I took quite a lot of the fish

After lunch, we continued our journey at the Heritage Centre, catered more for tourists to understand their culture.

In the late afternoon was shopping time for Daddy and Mummy at the Citigate Outlet Mall. And that was also the time I got bored .... shopping is just not for me .. so in order to entertain myself, I started to dance in every shop that Daddy and Mummy went into .... as long as the music in each shop was different, I can easily entertain myself ... Daddy and Mummy got the hang of this and asked me to dance so that I dun disturb them .... luckily Daddy and Mummy are not shopaholics so I did not have to dance for long .... In the first place, the things there are not that cheap, its about the same price during Great Singapore Sale, just that there are more variety here cos all the big names are together at a discounted price.

Dance at Club 21

Dance in Sisley

After dinner, we went back to Novotel Hotel early to rest for the big day .... onto DISNEYLAND the next day !!!

More photos to enjoy ....
